Salt Lake County's planned issuance of a $90 million bond, funded with the parks portion of the county's Zoo, Arts and Parks (ZAP) tax collections, will be the subject of a public hearing at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the County Government Center, 2001 S. State St.

Voters last year approved a 10-year extension of the tenth-of-a-cent sales tax to support arts, cultural and zoological programs and parks.

County officials have determined the parks portion of the ongoing tax is sufficient to make annual payments on a $90 million bond that will provide roughly $59 million for new parks projects and $31 million for maintenance at existing facilities.

Based on an advisory council's recommendations, the County Council has selected dozens of projects that would be funded by the bond.

The public hearing was scheduled to determine if the bond will have potential economic impacts on the private sector. It will be held in the County Council chambers on the first floor of the government center's north building.
